On the 12th of September 2014, artist, pianist and songwriter Jenny Moe has finally released her debut album Mon Capitaine. The young Norwegian, who recently published the first music video in the history of Norway ever to be financed through crowdfunding, shot in Dubai by the media company Attitude Enterprises, has previously performed on stage in front of 5000 fans of Norway's biggest live band Kaizers Orchestra and on festivals throughout Norway. She was also a songwriter for ESC 2014, with a forth place in the national finals.
Her artist career kick-started in Paris, where she spent a year as an Erasmus student in 4th year of medical school, where she wrote songs and performed on cafés at small stages in the Latin Quarter, along side her studying. Upon her return from the City of Lights in 2010, she's been working on the soundscape now presented, in collaboration with pop producers Magnus Hængsle (Turns, Svidd Gummi) and Per Martin Nordlie (Blind Archery Club). With a detailed and dynamic pop sound, mixed and mastered to perfection by Ulf Holand, Moe's music touches upon sounds from artists such as Tori Amos, Jessie Ware and Alicia Keys, but with a Nordic flair of both fierceness and melancholia. Her lyrics, strong and poetic, are filled with palpable emotions circling the eternal questions of emotion and reality, restlessness, love, despair and ambition, and the Mon Capitaine album is a travel just waiting to whisk you away.
As a live artist she knows how to communicate with the crowd, and with humour and observations the audience is warmly invited in to her universe. More striking still is her communication of the songs, be it in a solo set or joined by her band, and for the release concert and concerts to come for her Mon Capitaine tour: be prepared for goose bumps.
"Convincing originality which both suprises and moves"
- 5/6, review of Mon Capitaine by Hamar Arbeiderblad
"Then it's Jenny Moe's turn. In a beautiful, fragile and melodious way, she and the band captures the audience and does not let go until the final note. "
"As soon as I heard the track, that was it"
